- Proceed to MySpace.com and log in.
- Click “My Stuff” at the top of the page, and then click “Account Settings.”
- Click “Cancel Account” under “Account Settings & Privacy” on the left side of the page.
- Click the “Cancel Account” button.
- Select the reason why you want to delete your MySpace account, and then click “Cancel Account.”
- Type any comments that you might have, and then click “Cancel Account.”
- Check the email address associated with your MySpace account for a message titled “(Name), please confirm your MySpace account cancellation.” Open the message.
- Click the cancellation link in the message. This returns you to MySpace.
- Type the email address associated with your MySpace account, and then click “Cancel Account.”
This cancels your MySpace account and schedules it to be deleted. The process will be complete within 48 hours.

We weren’t aware that there was a way to link MySpace and Facebook accounts together. Have you tried using Facebook’s password recovery options?
Ok, followed these steps, all went well until I was told to enter my email. Typed it in… “The email address you entered does not match.” Ok…. typed it in again… Same thing. Copied and pasted my email address from the email that they sent me aaaaand… “The email address you entered does not match.” WTF

Hopefully another reader can help you with this one. In writing this article, we created a MySpace account, deleted it and recorded the steps. We experienced no problems during the process of deleting the account. Have you tried contacting MySpace directly? You can do so from this page:

if you notice the many same queries online via googling this, they are the same.
I, too CANNOT cancel/delete my account or profile on my space.
I’ve done the exact same guided instructions and I also get the same response after their window ask are you sure to cancel.
same thing James gets..

Such a lie. I’ve been trying to get out of there and cancel My profile for at least 6 months.
I get the ame emails about ..”am I sure I want to cancel ?”
ANd it’s a rinse and repeat cycle.
My profile is stil there, I still get notifications , no matter how I’ve set my privacy to.
Somone better need to advise people like Me.

We are limited in the amount of technical support that we can provide for other people’s websites. MySpace has its own technical support staff that you can contact by clicking the link above.
However, a little research shows that this is not the first time that MySpace has experienced this problem. Searching online, we found the following bug report:
“…when you click the link in the confirmation email, enter your email address, and click cancel to confirm, you may get the message “The email address you entered does not match.” Don’t worry, the system did accept your confirmation (if you DID enter the correct email address), and your request will be honored.”
Ongoing and Resolved Bugs
The MySpace staff marked that issue as resolved, when obviously it is not, given the reports that have been posted here and on the MySpace bug report forum. However, it seems as though your account does get queued for deletion in spite of the error message.
Did you change the email address associated with your MySpace account at some point, and do you no longer have access to the email address that you used when you initially created the account? According to our research, some MySpace users are also having trouble changing their email addresses, and it looks like the two problems are connected in some way.
Given the information available, we suggest that you follow the steps to delete your account, ignore the error message and wait a few days before trying to log in again, because it seems that your account does get deleted either way. If this doesn’t work, contact MySpace or file a bug report using the links above. Hopefully this helps both you and James.

i cant delete my myspace account… they are saying that the email is wrong. i checked 2wce.. its right. if myspace wont drop my account fully. the i will find ways of compensation for my pain
I have been having the same problems as James and Ice Princess. I have even followed MacGateway’s strategy and waited it out, 48 hours later my account was still active with nothing changed.
Anyone else with a solution?
