15-inch MacBook Air Coming in Q1 2012?
Digitimes reports that, ahead of the release of the 15-inch MacBook Air that could occur as early as the first quarter of 2012, Apple is preparing for a surprise price drop on the current 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air models. The Internet has been aflutter with rumors over the possibility of a 15-inch MacBook Air or ultraslim MacBook Pro for months now. However, previous rumors suggested that Apple would not release this new notebook until the second quarter of 2012.
It is possible that Apple has stepped up the development timetable for the 15-inch MacBook Air to compete with the “Ultrabooks” that some manufacturers are now coming out with, although we have yet to see an Ultrabook with the right combination of price, specifications and design aesthetic that we believe poses a serious threat to the MacBook Air.
Hitachi and Sony to Manufacture iPhone 5 Screen?
Mac Otakara reports that Hitachi and Sony are collaborating with Apple on the development of a new, larger 4-inch screen for the next-generation iPhone. This corroborates previous rumors suggesting that the iPhone 5 would feature an edge-to-edge display. However, there is still no word about when this device might be released. Apple announced the iPhone 4S this October, and the device has been such a hot seller that there seems to be little need to rush the next-generation device.
