Citing a source with the James Bond-esque nickname “Mr. X,” 9 to 5 Mac reports that Apple’s new 2011 iMacs are expected to begin hitting shelves as early as next week. The new iMac is expected to have a Thunderbolt port as well as Intel’s latest Sandy Bridge processors. It is not expected to look different visually from the current iMac. As additional evidence for this claim, the article cites a forwarded email from Apple via a customer explaining that due to an “unexpected delay,” their recently ordered 27-inch iMac will ship on or before May 2. This makes it appear as though anyone who recently ordered an iMac will receive the new 2011 model instead.
